Nidecker Design Competition

I heard about Nidecker's design competition over at http://core77.com/nidecker2009/ from shayboarder.com and it sounded like a lot of fun, so I whipped up two designs and sent them off to Nidecker/Core77. Their requirements are pretty straight-forward, you have to design the board in photoshop or Illustrator, and they have to be in full-color CMYK colors or 5 flat colors. All the boards will use a common black base graphic except the Grand Prize winner will be invited to design a base that will go with their winning topsheet design.

You have to design these files on a HUGE template first, then copy and paste the original onto the templates they provide on the site and then submit! You have to have the HUGE original template ready to send to them if you are the winner, I guess they will print your graphic directly on the boards. This is an easy thing to miss, so please don't go and design in the template they provide, only to find out you need to have a much bigger version!

Here's mine:

Yeah, yeah, they're really simple but I had NO idea what they wanted and I don't really expect to win anyways... but I like the top one a lot, I drew the hand and spray can with my mouse.

While we're on the topic of snowboard designs, I did a shredbetties.com Scavenger Hunt last year and one of the clues was to design a Never Summer Infinity, and this was what I came up with:

There was also a Moosejaw design contest, but that one just sucked. It was the kind of comp where you had people voting on designs, so I guess some Myspace freaks entered and posted everywhere saying, "OMG OMG VOTE FOR ME!!!!!!!!!! AND I'LL COMMENT YOUR PICS!" so the result was some snowboard, that looked like a blind child with autism designed it, won.

This was one of my several entries for Moosejaw:

I like to design shit. Let's hope I win!

A blind child with Autism???
Your an idiot, children with autism are extremely artistic individuals and probably have more creative talent in their little finger than you'll ever have in your career.
Ignorance breeds ingnorance so just stop talking now.
