2010 Capita Space Metal Fantasy FK 147

Mountain: Copper Mountain
Weather: Glorious sunny day with blue skies
Snow: Crud, you know how man-made snow gets after a few days? Like that, with some icy spots

Bindings: Ride Zeta Tokidoki3
Boots: 32 Lashed size 6.5

I first took this board through the park for the first run of the day, it did just fine on the box and wasn't catchy or anything. Here's a sequence of me that Shannon from shayboarder.com took pics of; all I did was a boardslide to frontboard, nothing too crazy.

I didn't get the chance to take it off the jump since the jump wasn't built right. Almost everyone had trouble clearing it, I can barely get past the knuckle even when straight-lining it. However, right after the park is a really fun roller that you can ollie pretty high off, and the Space Metal Fantasy felt stable when landing, there's no squirrely feeling.

The SMF is also really stable when bombing down the hill, just like the Horrorscope I tried out last year. This board is basically the smaller version of the Horrorscope, and that's right. Rides pretty similar to the Horrorscope. Very poppy too!

The swing weight is low, I had no problems popping 180s and 3s off the sides of the run and on boxes. OH yeah, and ice. The board handled the icy conditions on the top part of Copper fine, but I had to go slow and be careful. It felt like if I went too fast, the board would slide out under me. It definitely takes precise balance over ice when you're on edge with this board.

In all, this was a good board, I liked it, but it doesn't make me lose my shit and go crazy over it like some people over other Capita boards. I was kind of expecting more, but I only rode it for like an hour. This board was also soft right out of the factory, you can press on the first day, and expect it to get softer the more you ride it.

I would definitely give this board another try, for a whole day if I could, and preferably in a smaller size. I only got the 147 since it was all that was available at Copper's Capita demo. No other sizes, and no other womens boards were available. They didn't even have womens Union bindings. Rad.

I would probably recommend this board for someone who uses the whole mountain as a park, in addition to riding the actual park. This is a really fun, playful, poppy board that's also stable enough for going fast.

Weeeee frontboard on the SMF!!
