Hello, world!

Long time no talk! As some of you may remember, my laptop crapped out on me and I just never got around to getting a new one until now. I spent a lot of my time snowboarding, fly fishing, trail running, working as a barista... it's great to live, work, and play in such a beautiful place. I've missed documenting my adventures and I am so excited to be able to start doing that again.

The 2011-2012 winter was.... a bust. Despite mother nature teasing us with snow before the ski resorts started opening and tricking us into thinking it would be another amazing, powder-filled winter like 2010-2011 (my fuck... that was THE year to be in Summit County), it never snowed again after the first opening day!

Now, to compare, the 2010-2011 winter, it seemed like we had powder days at LEAST 5 days a week. Adrian and I went to Vail MANY TIMES (we usually only go there on powder days), Beaver Creek was hit up often as well. Now, in the 2011-2012 winter.... we only went to Vail ONE TIME for a powder day. ONE. FREAKING. POWDER. DAY. That was the deepest day we had, I think it was 12 inches of freshies, but we could still feel crud in some areas. We still dropped cliffs and cornices anyways, and it was still a fun day. We were just so happy to finally have a powder day. We did have a handful other days when it was fresh snow, but it was only like maybe, 6 inches, and we rode Keystone/Breckenridge those days. We just couldn't justify going to Vail when it was less than 10", especially when the snow was hard and shitty underneath. Here is my season in pictures!

Dustin's pic he took of me ended up in the Vail Daily!

We went to a Halloween party at the Nightmare warehouse...

Rode Loveland Pass a few times...

Had some beautiful sunrises in my backyard...

Saw lots of pretty Christmas lights...

I finally beat Adrian at darts... my winning bullseye...

We had lots of wind...

....and it was so windy this day all lifts were on hold....

...so we snowboarded in my backyard... 5-0 on the "jib tube"

We rode with the Gerard kids often... they're mischievous!

More pretty sunrises!

This was a rare sight!

Got my new board...!  Roxy Eminence 143!

Sarah Burke is still skiing!  RIP

It was really windy and cold!

We went fly fishing because there was no new snow...

I went to the Loveland Games!

Someone got a sick photo of my method off the ironing board! Love Games is SO FUN!

Red Gerard continued to scare us by jumping over us...

Happy Spring Break, you freaking Texans...

Whew!  That was me trying to summarize my season in pics!  Some other things I should note that wasn't in pictures...
  •  2012 Winter Deaflympics in Slovakia.  A coach had contacted me and said he wanted me on the team, but I had missed tryouts.  I got together a good resume and emailed someone else, and he said I was on the team!  Woohoo!  Unfortunately the Deaflympics got canceled right at the last minute... I guess basically Slovakia didn't have their shit together.  You will see me at the 2014 games!
  • Winter X-Games 2012.  I was supposed to compete in the girls division on the "real street course."  Unfortunately I came off a rail early during practice.  No big deal, I figured I'd just firecracker down the stairs, as I have done in urban situations.  The stairs at the X-Games were made of WOOD... not concrete... so my board basically stuck to the stairs, and I flipped over and landed on my back right on the corner of a stair.  SO.  MUCH.  PAIN.  My back still hurts to this day.
What a bummer, those two big events I was looking forward to didn't work out!  I didn't do a lot of competition because I was so focused on the Deaflympics and the X-Games.  I really wanted to do well.  I did go do a rail jam in Steamboat and I thought I rode really well despite my back hurting.  It was all side-approach rails, and I did tricks I thought I'd never be able to do.  I was doing 180 on, 180 offs, on this skinny-ass down rail!
Even though this winter was a bummer, I'm already looking forward to next winter!  Hopefully it will be a much better season!!
