A New Chapter

It was hard, but Adrian and I left my beloved Colorado.  It seemed like a good idea at the time, considering what a horrible season it was.  We were originally going to move at the end of the ski season, but we were so tired of no snow that we left mid-April.  We moved to Huntington Beach, California.

Moving day!
After we arrived in CA, I found out that Arapahoe Basin decided to close a month earlier than scheduled.  Whoa!  We were glad we didn't plan to stick around.  The drive from Silverthorne to Huntington Beach was easy; my grandfather was a trucker so trucking is in my blood, ha ha.  I drove nonstop all night and made it to Vegas, spent the night, then Adrian and I continued onto California.

It was a little hard to find a place here, but we managed.  Adrian really wanted to be near the beach, and I really wanted a washer/dryer and hardwood floors/laminate/tile (NO CARPET!).  You won't believe how many places didn't allow dogs.  We got so lucky that we found a studio with no carpet, washer dryer hookups, full kitchen, AND allowed dogs... and it's two blocks away from the beach!  It's actually roomy and comfortable in here, I really like it.  We do have a loft and we use it for storage, all our gear is up there :)

Two blocks away!
I miss Colorado a lot, but I'm finally starting to like it here.  I don't think I will ever 100% love it; I have discovered that I really am a mountain person.  I'm just happier there.  Adrian and I have picked up surfing, it is great fun but I like snowboarding way better!  I think this season, we will get season passes to Mountain High and Big Bear.  I am disappointed that they offer adaptive tickets, but NOT adaptive passes.  I have no idea how long we will be out here for...at least this winter.  We won't be out here forever.  I miss the slow-pace life, the beautiful sunrises, and most of all, my friends.  We do have beautiful sunsets here, and I am starting to slowly make new friends here.  We will see how it goes this winter!

Sunset!
