My knee is feeling better and better! I actually went and did a rail jam around the 4th of July weekend at Copper.... why not? It was free and I wanted to see where I was at snowboarding-wise. First place gets a free Go-Pro camera, so what the hell. Let's try it. The set up for the rail jam was kinda dumb, there were these culvert tubes in a weird place, it was stupid. Basically it was a down rail with a donkey dick and a kinked rail. There was also a flat rail in the middle that went to the landing where the culvert tubes were (there were maybe 5 of them, laid out perpendicular to the flat rail). I took it easy, got the feel of the rails, the speed, the snow, what have you.
When the jam started, I started trying to see if I still had my old tricks. I did a 50-50, knee felt just fine, so I went and did a 180-on on the down rail with the donkey dick. That also felt good, so I decided, what the hell, let's try something I've never done before. I have never, ever done a 270-on onto a side-approach feature, and especially never a donkey-dick rail. Well, I went ahead and tried it after doing a few confident 180-ons... AND TOTALLY NAILED IT! OMG! I couldn't believe it, I actually did a proper 270 on and frontboarded all the way through the dick! Apparently the judges were stoked and said something about it, whatever, I'm deaf, ha!
I also did the kink rail just fine and I struggled a little with the flat rail because of the STUPID landing area with the tubes.... I felt like I didn't have the strength in my legs like I had before to really absorb the landing on the tubes.
Overall, I was REALLY happy with how I rode, I am really excited for this winter! I placed third in the rail jam...?? I then found out that the girl who got 1st worked for Woodward and the girl who got second was probably friends with whoever was involved in the jam because she didn't land. A. Single. Thing. It would have been really nice to win that GoPro camera, but ah, favoritism in snowboarding and rail jams.... it makes no sense. That's why I haven't done a jam in a while. Like I said, I am really, really happy with how I rode and that's all that matters in the end! Even some people were all, "What??" when it was announced that I won 3rd... haha.
Also.... I WAS SELECTED TO REPRESENT THE USA FOR THE DEAFLYMPICS THIS WINTER. OH MY GOD.
I AM ALSO BACK IN SCHOOL. FUCK. HOW AM I GONNA MANAGE ALL THIS TIME.
I ALSO NOW LIVE IN BRECKENRIDGE. WITH COBIE. MY BOYFRAN. We got ourselves a BITCHIN' cabin! We call it Stabbin Cabin right now but I want to change the name to Valhalla. It's awesome here. Check out this pic, this was taken in May when we moved in here.
I ALSO ADOPTED A DOG! Oh my god. I still can't believe I got a dog. I adopted her ten days after my birthday, my birthday is June 17th and I got my dog June 27th.
The shelter said that Jackie (her name the shelter gave her.... barf.) was between 1-2 years old and was a stray in Texas before she got transferred to the Frisco shelter. They also said she was an Australian Cattle Dog and Australian Shepherd mix.
Lies. All lies. My friend who is an amazing dog trainer got together with me to meet this dog, and she estimated her to be 7 months old at the time when I adopted her. OH MY GOSH I GOT A FREAKIN PUPPY! AND it turns out she is a pure ACD, she is not a mix. Wow. Wow wow wow. There are some people who pay thousands for a purebred puppy and I paid..... wait for it.... $110. Yup. Adoption fee.
It all made a lot of sense though- she did not know any basic commands and she was very playful.... within a week, she learned all the basic commands AND her new name... Gypsy! She has the same colors as a Gypsy moth, hence the name. :)
I absolutely love this pic of Gypsy.... she loves the beach!!!!! She pretty much loves adventuring with my boyfriend and I, it's crazy how perfect a match she is for us!
She will also be my service dog... :) She's already started some training, but she is still a little too young (11 months old now!). My trainer and I took her to Breckenridge Brewery to expose her, get her used to going to places and she did FABULOUS! She laid down under my chair, didn't eat crumbs off the floor, and just overall killed it! I can't wait to take her ERRYWHERE.... she still needs a vest (my trainer used hers).
She really is growing up to be a fine dog! I'm so proud of my Baby Gypsy SqueakyPants! She squeaks when she's happy-excited... it's adorable!
Oh yeah.... we had our first snow on October 1.... GYPSY LOVES THE SNOW! YAY!!!!!!!!
