Welcome home, Old Man Winter

Old Man Winter has arrived.  He made his presence known on October 1st when we got a wintry blast of snow.  The yellow Aspen leaves were still on the trees, spattering the mountainsides like a wildfire.  The snow made the leaves POP and it was the most beautiful thing I saw.  Not ever, because I am constantly surrounded by such beauty.  I love it!  I feel incredibly blessed to live, work, and play in a beautiful place!

Summer really flew by!  Looking back in my photos, I realize that Cobie, Gypsy, and I did a lot.  It's so crazy what a perfect match Gypsy is for us.... she is a GREAT adventure buddy!  I'm always telling Gypsy, who was born in the mean streets of Texas, "What a life you have!!"  I will have another blog post about her past, how we ended up with her, and her now, almost 5 months after we adopted her on June 27, 2014. For now, enjoy the pictures from summer!

During a poop walk one morning with Gypsy.  So pretty!
Blazing yellow Aspens-- This is on my hiking route, right by my house!

More Aspens!
Gypsy on Boreas Pass at the Continental Divide

She learned how to swim this day and LOVES to swim now!
Cobie had a kayak over the summer which I named Red Rocket... hehehehe.  I'm so inappropriate.
Family picture after a day at the lake... Gypsy looks stoked!

We all fit perfect in Hellcat

Boreas Pass, quick camp-out.  Nice 40, Cobie.

Ahhhhh :) I love me a campfire!

Pretty sunset at my place!

Taking Gypsy to our favorite spot...

...Radium Hot Springs!!!

Ruff Ryders!

This dog.... she's awesome.

Her first taste of snow!  Poop walk!

First REAL snow!  Look how gorgeous those Aspens are!

Winter went away for a month so we got to hike around and explore a little more... found this!

Winter came back almost a month later and here's Gypsy watching it DUMP

Gypsy and the neighbor wolf-hybrid, Jackson.  That dog sucks.

Yes, I have a neighbor dog that's a young wolf-hybrid and he's damn cute but wow.  He needs training.  He's always fucking running away over here and when the owner comes to get him, he doesn't come when called.  Meanwhile, I'm over here, calling Gypsy over and she listens right away.

We have a bunch of neighbor dogs here that suck, it's not just Jackson.  There's another black lab named Charlie, he's always running through the damn trees towards us and scaring the shit out of me.... I keep thinking he's a bear, he moves so fast.  Jackson also scares me when he comes shooting through the trees, he moves like a wolf and looks like a wolf.  My landlord who is a hunter does not like Jackson coming on the property... I can understand his concern, he usually butchers his kills in his garage and who knows what that dog will do when the landlord does his packaging?  People.... watch your dogs!  Train them!  It's so much better for all of us in the long run!

Speaking of wolf-hybrids, I heard that Fuzzypants, that husky (who apparently was a wolf hybrid according to a vet) who I took care of for years as if he were mine, got put down.  So sad.  I hope he finds my Gracie GooGooFace up in doggy heaven!  Fuzzy would have been 6 or 7 this year.

It's so sad that we have to outlive our dogs!  I researched that some Australian Cattle Dogs live up to 16!!  I hope Gypsy has a long, healthy, wonderful life with us!  I promised Gypsy that she will be with me FOREVER.  When I get a dog, it is for life.  This is a commitment that I make no matter what.

I'm gonna conclude this post... we are supposed to get another wintry blast this weekend!  6"-10" snow today, 8"-12" tomorrow, and 6"-10" Monday!!  That is BANANAS!  It's sunny right now though so I plan to take full advantage of my day off today by going hiking with Gypsy!  I will be using snowshoes, we have that much snow on the ground!  And then.... HOMEWORK.  UGH.  NO.  BOO.  HISS.
