WOW! Long time no post. I have been busy as hell, you people.
I swear every summer it becomes more overrun with tourists in my little slice of paradise. I don't mind sharing, but damn. This is ridiculous. I can't believe people are willing to get stuck in traffic going to and from Denver. Housing is also becoming hard to find, lots of people have been moving here for the weed. That's cool, but you know you can find weed anywhere, right? And for the love of god, why would you move to a ski resort town if you don't even ski/snowboard or do ANYTHING outdoors?
I was also so busy in school this past summer but I managed. Finished out the summer semester with a 4.0 GPA, wahoo! I also earned myself a place on the President's List, apparently a big honor. Whoohoo!
I took some bitchin' classes this summer including Whitewater Rafting and Whitewater Kayaking. I was able to have an interpreter come and it was awesome. I swear, when I request interpreters, sometimes it's for the craziest shit hahaha. I also took Survival Plants, that was a WAY COOL class. A little overwhelming since it was only 4 days.... it was a 10 hour day each day because we had a LOT to learn. Now when I go hiking, I can identify a lot of plants! "That's a Fireweed... that is Arnica, and that is Green False Hellbore!"
---------------
The Whitewater Rafting class was a 5 day class, 2 were day trips and the other days were overnighters... IT WAS SO COOL! My first time ever river-camping and I absolutely LOVED it!

You see that blue tent? That tent sucked ass. I can't believe it lasted this trip. Fun fact: this tent completely died after a total of 6 days using it. I shit you not, everything fucking broke on the 6th day using this tent (but fortunately I was car-camping off Independence Pass at the time, not along the river). Our class' trip was near the Colorado-Utah border, on the Colorado River through the Ruby-Horsetheif Canyon. IT IS SO BEAUTIFUL, OH MY GOODNESS.

Alright, the bathroom situation. Pee in the river, poop in a box. No wonder my dog is always so happy after she poops outside, she has great views! Hahaha! The box is called a groover, you're supposed to only go number two in it. There's blue liquid in it like you see in portapotties and there's a lid that screws on. We used a raft paddle for a "bathroom pass" and if the paddle is gone, DO NOT GO TOWARDS THE GROOVER. IT IS OCCUPIED. Some poor bastard already got walked in on once... so happy that wasn't me. Hahahaha!
The Whitewater Kayaking class was fun too, a little scary, but fun. I don't think it's my thing but I would go again if I had the chance. I prefer kayaking on lakes! I learned how to do a wet exit; it was so weird being upside down in the water in the kayak but I got used to it after a few times. I only flipped once while on the river!
I got As in both classes ;)
I recently am trying to get more into mountain biking. I love taking my dog along! She is so good about staying next to me when we ride on the dirt road where cars occasionally pass us and she knows to stay behind me when we are actually on a trail. Such a smart girl!
The Aspen trees are starting to turn yellow and I'm just trying to bike on this road as much as possible before all the leaf-peepers start clogging up the road. The leaves are GORGEOUS! Winter is coming, winter is coming, winter is coming!!! I can't wait to just go and SNOWBOARD for fun now that all the Deaflympics stuff is over! I want to get a GoPro this winter and try to get some filming done :)
I am now a product tester for backcountry.com... isn't that wild? It just happened by chance. I enjoy leaving reviews because it helps people make a decision about buying a product (I rely on reviews too!) and I guess they liked my reviews so much that someone contacted me and asked if I would be interested in testing stuff! How cool! So far, I've tested three different companies' products and I loved them all! I get to keep the stuff in exchange for posting my reviews and photos. This comes at a great time since I am a poor college student and I get free clothes-- YAY!
The very first thing I had to test was some yoga pants from a company called Soybu. They sent me these pants called "Killer Caboose" and boy- they deserve that name. Look at dat booty.
I even got a whole outfit from Bellfield... pants, a sweater, and an awesome t-shirt!
Sorry I look like shit in that sweater photo- I literally woke up, threw my hair up, and got the photos over with. Ha ha ha ha ha whatever. I really hope they send me outerwear to test.... they definitely know I snowboard. And I really, really hope for a tent for my upcoming backpacking class in the spring!
That's pretty much what's been happening in my world... just staying busy and waiting for winter!! Also, my summer break was only two weeks. SIGH. I'm already into my third week of Fall Semester. I'm taking Abnormal Psychology, Intro to Environmental Science, World Mythology, Backcountry Navigation, and Avalanche Level I. I will get a certificate when I pass the Avy class and my friend told me something about how it will allow me to go heli-boarding in the future!! WOOOOOOOOOOO!

Avex also sent me a whole bunch of water bottles and a thermos... this is my favorite, the Avex Clarity, a glass bottle.
