Check out this photo that Arapahoe Basin posted on their facebook yesterday:
Oh man, oh man. Man, oh, man. Winter is sneaking right up on us! This week calls for warm, sunny weather before another storm rolls through this weekend. I think I am going to take advantage of this beautiful day and go for a nice hike with my roommate's dog. Yesterday was equally nice here in the valley, it was in the 60s and sunny so I went ahead and painted my truck's wheels... oh my gosh. It looks BITCHIN! I wish I had done it sooner! I got tints last week, Hellcat is looking good...! Sure, she may be slow, but she looks good :) I didn't realize how faded my plastic fenders were until I put some armor all on them, whewwwww. It's like a new truck again!
Cobie got a place secured, and it is now exactly a fortnight before I fly out and go help him drive to Colorado. I am absolutely giddy with excitement, I can't wait to see him again. We are going to stop in Saint Louis and stay for a day, see my mother, introduce those two to each other, then BOOM, ONWARDS TO COLORADO!
Am I crazy for already planning housewarming gifts for Cobie and Connor? Connor is one of Cobie's friends from Aspen, I've met him and he is a super nice guy. They don't know about this blog (yet), so here is what I am thinking. Those two love coffee. I'm gonna get a bag or two of beans from Rocky Mountain Coffee Roasters (mmmm.... there's nothing like freshly roasted coffee.... enjoying a cup of Black Dog brew right now), some Moose Drool beer (maybe a 12 pack? It's one of my favorite beers), annnnnnnnnnnnd.... maybe some weed. Hahahaha. I'm such a good woman. I want to give good housewarming gifts because I want Connor to be okay with me crashing there once in a while when I go visit Cobie!
Speaking of housewarming gifts, I got my best friend Ali, who moved to Hawaii, a French press and sent her some beans from Rocky Mountain Coffee Roasters too! Coffee.... the gift that keeps on giving! I'm sad she won't be around this winter, but hopefully I can make some new friends this year. It won't be the same though!!
I think I am going to spend a bunch of time volunteering at the Aspen camp again this year- it was such a rewarding experience last winter.... hard, but rewarding. I went to the adult X-Games weekend camp as a camper and it was an absolute blast. I recently got asked if I would be willing to *volunteer* this winter for that camp... Sounds like I will watch the adults get all drunk and babysit them... ha ha! At least it will be free for me to go ride at Aspen, so I may do it! I'll probably drive myself out there a few days before the camp starts, do some snowboarding, and stay again after the camp, snowboard some more, before returning to Summit.
I seriously love Aspen. If I didn't have a great job and great friends to live with here, I'd move to Aspen in a heartbeat. It's super isolated, yes, but wow. There's practically never any lines for the chairs. Even during the X-Games weekend, I was lapping Buttermilk nonstop. Sure, there's lots of Porsches and rich people who look like dicks, but I have met some really good, laidback people there. The only thing that is driving me away from Aspen is rent is so DAMN EXPENSIVE! What the hell?! At these prices, I'd rather move to Steamboat Springs even though that place gets overrun with Texans time to time.
I'm just rambling on now. I am SO SO SO EXCITED to see what this winter has in store for me! Hurry up, Old Man Winter, and bless us with bountiful powder, please!
