Yesterday, I had my visit with my knee surgeon in Golden, CO. I checked in and the receptionists were very awkward, like they were super uncomfortable to talk to me because I am deaf. My interpreter I requested didn't show up. Damn it. I sat down to wait to be called when one of the receptionists waved me over. I read her handwritten note, "It looks like the interpreter we ordered was not successful, when do you want to reschedule?" I responded with my voice, "Well, I can speak, and I can hear a little bit and read lips as well... my doctor is very easy to understand." She seemed flabbergasted that I could speak and finally made her first attempt to speak to me, "Well, if you're comfortable with that...." "I am. It'll be fine." Like hell I was rescheduling that appointment, I just drove for an hour to be there.
I heard my name called and I followed the nurse to the room. Absolutely no problem, I understood everything she said just fine and she understood me. She told me to take off my sweatpants (I had shorts underneath) and the doctor would be there in just a moment. I did not have to wait long at all, and the doctor was totally cool with the interpreter's absence. Dude. I don't know what that receptionist was so scared about. Bitch, please. I can totally understand the doctor just fine.
He said my knee looks great, and that the swelling has gone down. He straightened my leg, oh my gosh. That felt so good. I had that brace on pretty much 24/7 for like three weeks so my leg was never fully straight. It was such a good stretch. The doctor told me to get off the bed and walk down the hall for him. I walked, slowly, and he said, "Looks great! No more brace!" OH MY GOD YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. He said now at PT, I will work on walking without the brace, but I can go ahead and walk around without it.
He also said that for the next month, it sounds like I'm gonna get rolling, work that leg, get it strong and useable again. I again asked him about snowboarding and he said 4 weeks, maybe 5 weeks. Oh boy oh boy. I will see him in 4 weeks and he will tell me then.
I feel like that cage door has been opened and I'm getting my glimpse at freedom.

| I shamelessly stole this image off the interwebs. This is from the movie Secondhand Lions, my absolute favorite movie. |
I made my appointment, I will see him again Monday, Feb 24. JUDGEMENT DAY!!! I walked out and big, fat snowflakes greeted me. I took a deep breath, I love that winter smell in the air. I seriously can't wait to play in the snow again. I had plans to go to the thrift store, but the snow was coming down hard and fast and I decided to just head on home before the highway got bad. Eh, whatever, I will be back in 4 weeks.

| Took this selfie after my visit. Obviously it went super well. |
I have my physical therapy appointment today this afternoon. My therapists are going to be stoked when I tell them the doc says no more brace. I hope we do lots of new stuff and really work this leg. I also start work again tomorrow morning! So excited to get back. Cobie might also come out this weekend. :D :D :D I am one happy giiiiiirrrrrrrrrrrrl. Love that guy. He visited me the previous weekend as well, not this past weekend but the one before that. It was absolutely wonderful. We went on a shopping spree at thrift stores, haha! I actually got some really nice practically-new tops and Cobie found some awesome things for himself as well. Raging success! It was so nice to be out of the house all day!
